Looking for good BBQ?
One place that comes recommended over and over again: 12 Bones Smokehouse
Luckily, they have two locations:
RIVER STORE: 5 Riverside Drive · Asheville, NC 28801 · Phone 828-253-4499
Their hours are limited, so plan to squeeze in some BBQ while you can. Mon – Fri 11 am-4 pm, closed Sat & Sun. They have covered outside picnic tables.
SOUTH STORE: 3578 Sweeten Creek Road · Arden, NC 28704 · Phone 828-687-1395
Mon – Sat 11 am-4 pm, closed Sun.
One attendee describes it as "the original location and, to me, the best. Food is the same at both just a little better atmosphere at the original–a little like a dive but very clean and good. The owner is a gourmet chef and the pulled port is to die for. His sides are out of this world. This is a life changing experience. The owner is an avid motorcycle enthusiast. Expect a line but it moves very fast. Don't know if this is a good sign or not but Obama eats there every time he is in the area. The experience is well worth your time."
ROCKY'S HOT CHICKEN SHACK
A place where you can get a good bourbon and beer, and plate of fried chicken.
