My ‘Cool Ride’ is a 2008 Honda Element. After having the Ecamper pop top installed by Ursa Minor Vehicles in San Diego, I set out to design the perfect interior based on the beloved, classic VW camper bus. The result is the Fifth Element Ultimate Micro Camper System.
This mini champ of a camper features seating for two on the lower level with fold down tables for working, eating, etc. When dinner is over the ‘downstairs’ transforms into two person bed, perfect for stealth ‘urban camping’. However, when out in the wild I tend to pop the top and sleep upstairs where I can take in the view and the breeze.
Also included in the Micro Camper interior is a large storage cabinet and removable camp kitchen complete with dual burners and a hands free sink for the outdoor gourmet. The wooden camper system is completely removable with no modifications to the car. Pop those rear seats in place and your camper transforms back into a daily driver that seats four.
On top of all this, the Element is all an all-wheel drive vehicle only 13” longer than the pint sized Mazda Miata making it perfect for navigating off road or parallel parking in the city. It is this simplicity and versatility that make my Honda Element Micro Camper, hands down, the ‘Coolest Ride’.
