OVERLAND EXPO 2014 EAST STATS AND QUOTES:

We refer to our shows as Overland Expo WEST and Overland Expo EAST. The caps are intentional. The location follows the year, since there are two per year.

We hosted approximately 3,000 people from around the world during the weekend. Of those nearly 500 were Overland Experience package attendees, which is pretty close to what we have for the WEST show (which grew to that number over 6 years).

Attendees came from as far away as Australia, Egypt, Korea, and South Africa, as well as many U.S. states and nearly all Canadian provinces. Californians and Oregonians made the trek, and  particularly well represented were Ontario and Quebec, as well as Florida, Tennessee, and Virginia.

120 instructors taught over 300 session-hours of classes, demos, slide shows, roundtables, and films; we had 12 staff and 60 volunteers.

"We were overwhelmed by the response to our first Overland Expo EAST," said Overland Expo founder and owner Roseann Hanson. "Not only are we extremely pleased with the numbers of attendees, we were very humbled by the warm welcomes we received from the people of Asheville and surrounding regions."

"People east of the Mississippi are ready to learn about and join the overlanding movement. Exhibitors reported back to us that sales were brisk, and our instructors were bowled over by the enthusiasm and thirst for instruction on everything from driving techniques to rope splicing to the anatomy of a budget for a long-term trip," Hanson said.

"We will return to Taylor Ranch--which was a perfect venue in all respects, from beautiful camping and exhibitor grounds to friendly staff and great food--the first weekend of October 2015."
