NATIONAL FOREST CAMPGROUNDS AND DISPERSED CAMPING:

The Pisgah National Forest offers several campgrounds, click HERE for a list of campgrounds. Areas of the forest are not open to dispersed camping. Please check with the local District Office and check the Forest Service website for updates and availability. Attendees are responsible for camping in legal areas.

LAKE POWHATAN, NC The facility provides picnic tables, tent pads, lantern posts and campfire rings with grills, in addition to restrooms with hot showers and flush toilets. A few sites have full hookups.

JAYMAR TRAVEL PARK This family owned and operated RV park offers 30 and 50 amp services, cable TV, and wifi.

LAKEWOOD RV RESORT This RV park is geared toward adults and promises a quiet stay with all the amenities.

MOUNTAIN BIKING

Popular mountain biking trails include Sycamore Cove Trail, and Black Mountain Loop. Farlow Gap is an expert-level trail, and considered one of the toughest in the area.

Hiking

Hike Pink Beds Trail for beautiful scenery and wildlife or head to the Moore Cove Falls. Want more waterfalls? North Carolina Waterfalls is web site devoted to waterfall information in western North Carolina. 

High Country Hikers organizes bi-weekly group hikes (weather permitting). One of the advantages of being in Western North Carolina is being able to experience the marvelous hiking in the area. Another is socializing with the fascinating people who live and visit here.

Located in Pisgah National Forest, the Pisgah Center for Wildlife Education offers unique outdoor and outdoor exhibits on the state’s wildlife and mountain habitats with lots of free programs and learning opportunities. 

 

FLY FISHING

Pisgah is known as a fly fishing mecca. Choose any blue line on the map, do some walking and you'll more than likely find fish. The section of the Davidson River near The Bobby Seltzer State Hatchery is nationally renowned for its ability to produce some of the biggest trout in the state.

Species: Rainbow trout, brown trout and brook trout.

the BilTMORE MANSION AND ESTATE

The Biltmore, with an 8,000-acre estate and the Blue Ridge Mountains in their backyard, offers a vast array of activities to enjoy the local scenery. Check out the bicycle miles of trails, fly-fishing, sport shooting, rafting trips, horseback riding, segway tours, or stand-up paddle boarding.
