Nissan has released pricing and specifications for the new 2022 Frontier that will hit dealers next month. After 14 years, the Frontier has received updated styling, modern technology options, and respectable offroad equipment on higher trim levels. The base model 4×2 King Cab starts the lineup at $27,480. The same truck, but in Crew Cab configuration, without optional equipment, is priced at $29,340.

The Pro-4X and Pro-X models feature 17-inch wheels and 265/70R-17 all-terrains. The Pro-X is the aggressively styled 4×2 trim level that’s a new addition to the Frontier lineup. The offroad-focused Pro-4X features Bilstein shocks, multiple skid plates, heavy-duty recover points, and a rear locker.

In terms of technology, the new Frontier features a 7-inch display between analog gauges and an 8-inch center display that’s upgradable to a 9-inch version. The 2022 Frontier also includes standard Apple CarPlay® and Android Auto™. Other interior options include a heated steering wheel, heated front seats, a Wi-Fi hotspot, a nine-speaker Fender audio system, a wireless charging pad, and a 360-degree camera system. In the cargo area, you’ll find a 110-volt in-bed outlet, a dampened tailgate, an updated cargo management system, and a standard spray-in bedliner.

All models of the new Frontier are powered by a 3.8-liter that first debuted in the 2020 Frontier. The maximum payload capacity tops out at 1,610 pounds, and the new Frontier can tow up to 6,270 pounds.

The Frontier’s pricing and features are competitive with similar trucks from other manufacturers. I’m curious to see how the new Frontier fares as the reviews begin to roll in and it’s available to everyday customers. Drivers loyal to the Nissan brand will surely be excited to have an updated truck platform after 14 years with the current version of the Frontier. Also, it will be interesting to see how it compares to the new Tacoma and Ranger models that are expected to debut in the next couple of years.
