The Raptor series has always been the top carnivore of Ford’s performance pickup truck line, and for 2024, the top-spec Raptor R will have a bit more bite.
According to Ford, the 2024 Raptor R’s 5.2-liter supercharged, inter-cooled V8 will produce 720 horsepower and 640 pound-feet of torque. That’s up 20 horsepower over the 2023 model. When the Raptor debuted 14 years ago, Ford says it made 411 horsepower from its top-trim 6.2-liter V8. For 2024, Ford states, “reduced air inlet losses,” and some tuning tweaks pushed the figure to over 700 horsepower.
Raptor R running gear will include a Hi-lock transfer case, 10-speed automatic transmission, 2.64:1 gear ratio in 4-Low, 37-inch BFGoodrich All-Terrain T/A KO2 tires as standard, all mounted on 17 x 8.5-inch forged aluminum beadlock-capable wheels. A bit more lift comes courtesy of FOX Racing Shox 3.1-inch dampers and a full-size matching spare wheel and tire. Ground clearance grows to 13.1 inches over the standard Raptors 12 inches.

Off-road tech helpers include Ford’s Terrain Management System, Trail Control, Trail 1 Pedal Drive, and Trail Turn Assist. Inside, creature comforts include a 12-inch touchscreen for tweaking performance, a 400-watt inverter, Trailer Theft Alert, Trailer Light Check, and the Sync 4 operating system and UI on the touchscreen.
In a press release, Ford said the new Raptors “continues to set the bar in the high-performance, off-road segment and delivers on the vision to bring customers closer to Baja desert racing-inspired trophy truck performance.” Pricing and availability were not specified but are expected to be announced in the coming weeks.
