Overland Expo West is the largest overlanding event in the world, and it’s absolutely loaded with rigs of make, model, and vintage that you could ever expect. The attendees and exhibitors brought their A-game, giving us a huge array to choose from. Not only did we spot some incredible customization, but we got to check out three epic vehicles that debuted at the show. While it’s impossible to rank the rigs we saw this weekend, here are “some” of the best rigs of Overland Expo West, presented in no particular order.
Toyota’s Trail Ready 4Runner
A couple of years ago, the sixth-generation Toyota 4Runner made its debut right here in Flagstaff at Overland Expo. Now we’re seeing some great builds based on the latest version of this legendary Toyota platform. This particular example was on display in the Toyota booth and kitted out with gear from the Associated Accessory Products (AAP) program. AAP is a great way to build out a new Toyota straight from the dealership, and this 4Runner is ready to hit the trail.
Storyteller Overland Grand Bohemian
Wait. A legendary van and adventure rig builder partnered with some awesome component and gear manufacturers to make a rig based on one of the most popular new vehicle platforms in recent years? Yes, yes, they did, and they came up with an epic name. Enter the Storyteller Overland Grenadier Grand Bohemian. Rocking an Alu-Cab roof conversion and rolling on an EVICTUS Prerunner Suspension, the Grand Bohemian is ready to take two travelers just about anywhere, and it does it in style. With a leather interior, SeaDek Flooring, a hardwood butcher block counter top, and dimmable lights, this build offers a level of comfort and refinement rarely found in campers/conversions of this size. Of course, it also offers the capability and style of the INEOS Grenadier that has become popular since the model’s debut.
American Expedition Vehicles FXL Super Duty
AEV is known for raising the bar with their packages available on a variety of rigs straight from the dealership, and now they’ve partnered with Ford to build the most capable Super Duty you can imagine. The FXL is truly a sight to behold. Featuring stamped steel front bumpers, AEV’s HighMark Fender Flares, a 4-inch DualSport XP Suspension, Bilstein shocks, 40-inch BFGoodrich HD-Terrain KT Tires, and much more, you’d be hard-pressed to imagine a more capable Super Duty, and you can get this one direct from your local Ford Dealer. We can’t wait to see the rigs that develop as the FXLs begin to roll off the lot.
Rebelle Rally Winning 2025 Subaru Forester
We love a rig with a story, and Carey Lando’s 2025 Subaru Forester Hybrid can definitely share some tales around the campfire. Carey and teammate Andrea Shaffer brought home five stage wins and a podium finish at the Rebelle Rally in this suped-up Subie. Carey has outfitted the Forester with a RalliTEK suspension paired with custom links for a 3-inch lift, RaceWorks Coilovers, a Sherpa Roof Rack for storing MaxTrax and other recovery tools, Milestar Patagonia AT Pro tires, LP Adventure Wheels, ADF Full Skid Plates, Diode Dynamic Lights, and a Torq Masters Rear Locking Differential. In terms of adventure wagons, this is a dream rig, and given its track record at the Rebelle Rally, it can undoubtedly put down the miles with ease.
Four Wheel Camper-equipped 1997 OBS F250
We loved a good pairing of a nice vintage rig, and modern equipment, and that’s exactly what Adam brought to Overland Expo West. With an original engine, this Ford is a testament to the legendary durability of the 7.3. Adam upgraded to 2005 Super Duty axles, long travel rear suspension, a front ICON suspension, and it’s rolling on 35s. Top that all off with a 2025 FWC Hawk camper and you’ve got a capable and dependable rig that’s an absolute classic.
Winnebago ARKA
Overland Expo West has seen some great vehicle debuts over the years, and Winnebago continued this tradition with the reveal of their new ARKA. Built on the RAM 5500 chassis, the ARKA sports an impressive 15,000 lb. towing capacity, hydronic heating, heated floors, 15kWh of lithium battery capacity, aluminum cabinets, modular sleep options, a dinette, and a full-height gear garage. The ARKA is insulated to stay comfortable in the incredible temperature range of -10 to 120 degrees Fahrenheit, so it’s truly ready for anything in the backcountry.

Goose Gear/Long Range America Diesel Swapped 1991 Nissan Patrol
We see some unique rigs at every Overland Expo, and we think it’s safe to say there weren’t many long wheelbase Nissan Patrols at West this year, and if that doesn’t seem like a sure thing, this was definitely the only one with a Mercedes diesel swap. This truck got a frame-off restoration for a fresh start, and from there it’s outfitted with Long Range America fuel tanks, Cruiser Company bumpers, a full Goose Gear interior, an Alu-Cab rooftop tent, SCS wheels, Toyo RT Pros, and trail armor. These Patrols are legendary off-road rigs, but we rarely see them in the States. Hopefully, more people will start importing them so we can see more awesome Patrol builds in the future.
Classic Overland “Warthog” 2000 Land Rover D90
Classic Overland is known for next-level Land Rover builds that range from luxury packages to full safari service vehicles, but this 2000 Defender in their booth was a bit different. Instead of a full-on frame-off restoration like some other CO builds, this Defender is a part of their Warthog line. That means it has received a body-on-frame refurbish, and all of the hoses, clamps, seals, etc., have been replaced. The Warthog line of build is meant to be daily drivers that retain the original spirit of these vintage Rovers while providing a few updates. This truck, like all of Classic Overland’s builds, includes the Passport to Service Plan, which covers repairs and replacements as long as the service of the truck is tracked. For a daily driver or a compact trail truck, this Defender provides a lot of style, and knowing it’s backed by Classic Overland gives us the confidence to say it would serve the new owner for years to come.
Field Van’s FAV
Let’s start with a new rig from the adventure van experts at Field Van. This new model was wrapped up just days before the event kicked off, and we can’t wait to see future builds based on it. The Field Adventure Vehicle, FAV, is based on the E350 platform featuring a Dana 70 full-floating rear axle, an Atlas 2 transfer case, upgraded brakes, and heavy suspension components. Paired with the dependable E350 is a great living space that provides a stand up shower, vertical walls, air conditioning, 1,000 amp-hours of power, and plenty of living space. As much as the FAV provides, it still retains the trail-ready approach and departure angles of other Field Van builds. The FAV is so new that it hasn’t yet been built out, but we can’t wait to see what the Field Van team comes up with as they develop this new option for their already awesome lineup.
Firebox Vintage Ford with Hot Tent
The DIY and Creator Areas at Overland Expo always provide some great rigs, and this held true at Overland Expo West 2026. Steve DeSpain of Firebox Stoves brought his 1966 Ford pickup outfitted with a custom pop-up canvas tent. Outside of a lift kit, this truck is fairly stock, but the fully custom-built tent is packed with so many features that this rig is anything but boring. Inside, you’ll find a stowable woodstove to keep the tent toasty on mountain adventures, and Steve has developed a convertible sleeping platform that includes a table, seating, a lantern hanger, slots for his stairs, and more. Steve does tons of trips on his YouTube channel with this great vintage rig.
2026 Honda Passport HRC Concept
My college roommate drove a 2000 Honda Passport, and over the years, that trusty adventure rig took our group of friends on plenty of camping and off-road adventures. That’s half of the reason why I couldn’t be more excited that Honda Racing Corporation USA brought this awesome build out to Overland Expo West. The stock Passport Trailsport is plenty capable, but this concept adds improved approach and departure angles, extended skids, 60mm of suspension lift paired with larger all-terrain tires, improved rock sliders, on-board air, a winch, off-road lights, and a swingout tire carrier for bringing along a full-size spare. This build serves as a great example of what you can do with a modern Passport, and I’m sure that somewhere, some young friends are going to be pinstriping a modern Passport while enjoying adventures they’ll never forget.
