This Tacoma-Based Expedition Vehicle Costs a Whopping $380,000

Well-heeled adventurers, rejoice! There’s finally a more modestly sized and maneuverable expedition vehicle built expressly for you. It’s based upon the Toyota Tacoma. And it’ll only cost you $380,000.

This morning, Sparks, Nevada-based TruckHouse revealed its first-ever midsize composite expedition vehicle, the BCT. Based upon the Toyota Tacoma TRD Pro, it reportedly fills a void in the segment. Presumably, not everyone who wants to explore in luxury wants a full-size rig.

The BCT is more than just a Tacoma TRD Pro with a camper on the back. It’s chassis has been beefed up. The suspension has been converted to a 12-inch long-travel setup. The rear axle is fully fabricated. And slotted disc brakes have been bolted up behind all four wheels (the stock Taco has rear drum brakes). Front and rear lockers are available, too.

The living portion of the BCT has been formed from a carbon fiber composite material. Inside, it can sleep four adults. Above the cab of the truck is a queen bed with its own articulating 32-inch TV. And, down in the main living area, the U-shaped dinette — flanked by 270-degrees of double-paned, safari-style windows— converts into a full-size bed.

Everything in the BCT is powered by gasoline (i.e. the Tacoma’s 3.5-liter V6) or onboard lithium-ion batteries (recharged by the standard 600-Watt solar array), including the unit’s heated floors. Simply fill the onboard 30-gallon water tank and the factory 21-gallon gas tank and hit the road. Those seeking extra fuel can option an additional extended-range tank.

Pricing for the BCT starts at $285,000. It comes in Stage I, II, and III. A fully loaded BCT will set you back the aforementioned $380,000.

The limited production run of the BCT starts in February, 2021. To reserve yours requires a nonrefundable $50,000 deposit. Interested parties can learn more at TruckHouse.co
