GMC Hummer EV Teased Again, Revealing New Body Styles

GMC dropped a new video Wednesday morning, showing a bit more of the forthcoming Hummer EV.

We initially thought it’d be a pickup truck à la the Rivian R1T or Tesla Cybertruck. Turns out, though, GMC is making something a bit more reminiscent of the original Hummer — a full-bodied SUV and a SUV body with a small truck bed. You can see the profiles of both in the video below.

GMC claims it’ll put out 1,000 horsepower, 11,500 foot-pounds of torque and be capable of a 0-60 time in 3.0 seconds.

More than just some new shapes and power figures, the video also divulges some features about the new all-electric 4×4. These include Adrenaline Mode, Crab Mode, an Ultimum Battery, Super Fast Charging, Next-Gen Super Cruise semi-autonomous tech, modular sky panels, an infinity roof, and ultra-vision cameras.

Before you ask: No, I don’t know what Crab Mode is nor do I know what an Ultimum Battery is. Both sound neat, though.

What’s more, GMC will reveal the truck this fall and begin taking reservations. Production is scheduled to start in fall 2021.

It’s clear from this video that General Motors is throwing everything it has at this truck. It’ll get all its design attention, all of its latest battery and autonomous tech, and it will likely look to squash Rivian, Tesla, and Bronco all in one fell swoop.

I am personally super excited about this truck. If it is capable of a range of more than 300 miles per charge, I could see adding one to my garage as my next overland rig.
