One Part Art, One Part Electric Motorcycle

If the Bauhaus Manifesto included designing a Belarusian electric motorcycle, it would most certainly be the Punch Moto electric bike.

Built in the capital city of Minsk, home of the indestructible Minsk (or M1NSK for those in the know) brand of motorcycles, the Punch harkens back to early 20th century Russian abstract art and I just love the look of this little bike. That said, I’m a big fan of the constructivist art movement (just search Alexander Rodchenko and you’ll catch my drift), so maybe I’m a bit biased. But what’s not to love about a fresh design that can reportedly go 75 miles per hour?

The fully electric drivetrain is powered by two side-mounted battery packs that fit neatly into the bike’s slim frame. The motorbike will reportedly produce a modest 20-33 horsepower, making it decidedly more of a motorcycle than an electric bicycle.

The word on the street is that it will have a range of around 68 miles, making a perfect urban commuter. I’m not sure that the Punch is destined to be the answer to your advmoto dreams, but if it’s built with the same bombproof construction that Minsk Motorcycles are, it certainly won’t leave you stranded on the way to the office.

If all goes as planned, Punch is slated to put the bike in production in 2022. Who knows if the Belarusian moto exports will ever take hold in the US, but for a bike that looks this good, I certainly hope it does.
