50 radical rigs at Overland Expo West

As discussed in my Overland Expo West Recap, this was my first time finally attending an Overland Expo event after years of going it alone. I was so inspired by the thousands of incredible rigs, gear, and more to make the camping experience more enjoyable. The Rigs of Overland Expo West 2025 could have an entire Compass series, but I will limit to just a couple highlights that caught my eye in various categories but I will do my best to expediently run through an incomplete selection of some of my favorites. I know that despite combing the corridors for three days, I still didn’t catch everything, so I’m excited for Overland Expo Pacific Northwest coming up in just a month near Bend, Oregon, if you see me, say hi and show me your favorite rig, gadget, or goggle-wearing puppy! I promise to try to make my rig rundown more restrained.

Flat Beds and Big Rigs

ADV Mobil's custom rigs set you up for any adventure

Truck House

RRE Rough Road Equipment

Unimog!

Land Roamer

Rugged Mountain

Bliss Mobil

ADV Mobil had a few vehicles on display, showing off the distinctiveness and customization of their designs. Truck House also had a few trucks up their sleeve, from the rather inconspicuous to the downright charming. RRE — Rough Road Equipment — sells equipment for you to renovate your own rig, but they also have an assortment of vehicles coming and going from their sale fleet. Bliss Mobil‘s rigs may have a certain boxy quality that helps them roam the streets without catching too many uninvited looks, the invited guest will be in for a treat with the blissful interior (see what I did there? But truly, the insides are luxury). Rugged Mountain Custom RV‘s classic truck camper style goes big with loads more space and options thanks to its flat bed design, and this X14 model gives you loads of space and comfort without sacrificing the ability to ramble the roughest roads. And finally (more or less), Earth Roamer was full of delights so nice they had to pull out the velvet rope on this LTx.

Toppers and Slide-Ins

For truck campers, Alaskan, AT Overland (who threw a heck of a party), Soaring Eagle all-aluminum campers, Cube Series, and Four Wheel Campers are just a few of the brands who showed how easily one can turn a work truck into a home on wheels. Hard-sided, soft-sided, modular, and designs like the Model M which still keep the usability of the truck bed intact highlighted the many ways to take your favorite burly vehicle and find cozy solace on even the back-est of roads (and beyond).

Trailers

Bundutec

Kimberley Karavan

Roadrunner

Kimberley Kube

Pebble

The trailer market is shooting off like fireworks with brilliant sparkles in all directions. From the utility of a Bundutec BunduTrail (a new model from the truck camper company), which itself spans outward seemingly infinitely with drawers and cabinets and even a bathroom contained in this Tardis, to the futurism of the all-electric Pebble (including it’s Magic hitch), trailers can bring the creature comforts with you to the backcountry, where you can leave them to Overland without fear of breaking anything you forgot to tie down. Road Runner Teardrops and Kimberley Kampers fill in the space between those two extremes, with lightweight hand-carved materials and thoughtful tech to get as on or off the grid as you want.

Vans and Tents

Field Vans, Quigley, and Tommy Camper Vans all had the opportunity to show how living in a van down by the river is a lot more luxurious than Matt foley would have us believe. Meanwhile, Gazelle, Roof Nest, Kakadu, and showed the versatility of tents. And Dometic (with their partnership with Jeep Performance Parts), Thule (who merged with Tepui back in 2018 and has been expanding the RTT lineup ever since), and Winnebago all brought their versatile and dynamic brands under new lighting, and they looked fantastic.

Sure, this Dometic display isn’t technically a camping rig set up, but it sure was mighty inviting.

Vans, Jeeps, Four Runners, Lexuses, Subarus, any vehicles that can leave pavement without stubbing a strut were on display not only in the exhibitor area but — of course — among the campers as well. However you choose to overland it a personal choice. Strap bags to your motorcycle, throw a hammock in the back of your Soob, climb up the ladder of your rooftop tent, or use kinesis to make a cup of coffee with your mind (I assume thats how that works) in your space age Pebble. To find your way in the overlanding world, to dream bigger or smaller, or to finally separate inside a rig you’ve had in your “someday” bucket, come as you are to an upcoming Overland Expo to see what new rigs await there. The next event is only a month away, at Overland Expo PNW. Click the button below to learn more and secure your tickets now. I’ll see you there!
