In a few short weeks, Overland Expo Mountain West will be back in beautiful Loveland, Colorado, and it will be a weekend filled with awesome rigs, the latest gear, and, of course, thousands of like-minded adventurers coming together to get inspired and outfitted. Amongst the hundreds of exhibitors, you’ll find those that are off-road and vehicle-specific, but there’s also plenty that offer everything you need to get outdoors, no matter where you’re heading out on foot, by bike, or on four tires. The classic outdoor brands are here to keep you ready for your next trip to the backcountry. Danner Boots will be displaying their latest models and the classics. Danner has been making rugged footwear for 90 years, and it’s safe to say that they have a model for your off-trail hikes, rugged tracks, and even the local trails you hit weekly. To complete the head-to-adventure ensemble, check out the apparel experts at 686 and Kuhl. From the technical to the casual, they have you covered, literally.
If you’re looking to explore beyond camp without breaking down, it’s tough to beat a bike. Rack experts at Kuat can get your bike into the backcountry without worry. They offer a wide range of options including hitch racks, bed racks, and more. Plus, they have an option for everything from gravel bikes to mountain bikes to e-bikes. If you’re more the type to hit the water or slopes, Kuat has you covered there with a line of racks and accessories for kayaks, snowboards, and skis.
We’re big fans of having a knife handy because you never know when you’ll need to slice up some snacks, cut some cordage, or start a fire. Spyderco and Boker will be on site in Loveland with a wide range of blades for every cutting task and type of adventure. From lightweight folders for everyday to dedicated bushcraft blades that can help you survive in the toughest conditions, these brands will have what you need.
One of the most recognizable adventure companies in the world will have their line of bags, packs, and apparel on display at Overland Expo Mountain West. Every adventure needs to have food and water covered, and you’ll find the best gear for both at Overland Expo. Grayl and Jet Boil have been huge supporters of the overland community, and we’ve put their gear to use on countless trail miles. Check out Grayl’s line of innovative water purifiers and supporting gear for clean water no matter where you roam. Jet Boil has been making innovative cook systems for every style of traveler for decades, from the classic Flash for fast and light trips, to the innovative Genesis system that packs everything you need for extended trips into a compact package. Both of these booths should be on your “must-see” list.
Speaking of food and water, we consider coffee a strong third place for every trip, and VSSL’s line of coffee gear is top-notch. After reviewing their pour-over setup on trips, we find that we use it as home. The quality is top-notch, and it makes a consistently great cup of coffee at home, the office, or the campsite.
You’ve probably heard of most of the brands that we’ve mentioned so far if you’re in the outdoor recreation scene, but Overland Expo is also a great place to find new brands you’re going to love. Some of these have been with us for years, and some are brand new exhibitors. For example, Kargo Gear makes some of the nicest packs and bags we’ve come across, and they’re made just down the road in Lafayette, CO. Manteo Poncho is a new Overland Expo exhibitor, and we’re excited to check out their poncho that can also serve as a sleeping bag, neck pillow, and ground blanket in one convenient package. Another new exhibitor, Snake Staff Systems keeps you safe no matter where you travel with their trusted and convenient products. A quality first aid kit, including a tourniquet, should always be readily accessible on your travels.
