Dometic Releases An Updated Version of Its Popular 3-in-1 Camping Cooktop

A camping cooktop should be three things: versatile, packable and efficient. Dometic’s Cadac 2 Cook 3 stove checks each of those boxes and has long been a favorite for backcountry cooking, thanks to its trifecta combination of a regular dual-burner stove, drop-on grill, and griddle toppers. Now, Dometic has upped the ante on its own versatile cooktop with the release of the Cadac 2 Cook 3 Turbo Deluxe. Here are the major takeaways from the brand’s latest launch.

The Cadac 2 Cook 3 Turbo Deluxe builds upon the design of its predecessor with a few key updates and changes. First, the updated Cadac 2 Cook 3 Turbo Deluxe features more cooking power than previous versions, with an updated burner design the brand is calling “turbo burners”. These turbo burners deliver faster, more concentrated heating and in the right conditions, can cut boiling time, which leads to a potential 20 percent gas savings with each cooking session. For comparison, the previous Cadac 2 featured a single, non-turbo burner.

The second major change coming to the Turbo cook system is a safety feature Dometic is calling “Flame Failure Device” or FFD. The FFD allows the stove to automatically shut off in the event of a flame getting blown out due to windy conditions (a common experience overlanding). The automatic shutoff feature is very important when it comes to cooking inside your camper shell or van, where fuel being unintentionally left on could result in hazardous gas filling the space.

You may be thinking, “The FFD seems like overkill — I’d notice a blown-out burner.” But if you’ve ever camped with kids, or friends, or even pets and significant others, you know how easy it is to get pulled away from a cooktop — and the FFD could come in very handy if you get distracted during dinner prep.

Outside of the turbo burners and FFD, the Cadac 2 Cook 3 Turbo Deluxe retains the same design as previous versions, including a light weight of 12.6 pounds and a packable design. The Deluxe version features the flat plate griddle and ridged plate grill, both finished in a GreenGrill non-stick ceramic coating. The Deluxe package also comes with a coffee pot stand, piezo ignition, storage bag and windshields.

Dometic released the Cadac 2 Cook 3 Turbo Deluxe  2024 Düsseldorf Caravan Salon, and the cooktop is now for sale starting at $220 for the Deluxe package, which includes the grill and griddle, while the stove alone starts at $143. Right now the only mention of the Cadac 2 Cook 3 Turbo Deluxe on the Dometic site is in the form of this news announcement, but you can purchase the new cooktop from Cadac’s website now. (Dometic acquired Cadac in 2021.) We expect to see the stove hit the Dometic site in the next few months.
