Tires: Dunlop Trailmax Mission

The DUNLOP Trailmax Mission spent over two years in development and went through more than 30 prototypes, with 12 months alone dedicated to optimizing the tread pattern. All to create an adventure tire that delivers knobby like performance offroad, impressive grip on-road and mileage that will take you anywhere you desire.

During this process, Dunlop partnered with engineers from their sister company, FALKEN Tires, to adopt several features from the award-winning FALKEN Wildpeak AT3W and seamlessly integrate them into a 60:40 adventure tire that has no equal. With unique features like the Staggard Step Technology which provides extra knob support for high horsepower ADV machines, as well as allow for a “new” biting edge to be exposed as the tire wears to maintain offroad performance throughout the life of the tire. Wrap Around Lugs, which add rigidity to the side knobs as well as additional durability in rocky terrain, allow riders to run lower pressure off-road with less risk of pinch-flatting or de-beading the tires.

The design team infused small but essential details into the Trailmax mission by focusing on details like altered tread patterns based on the size of the tire. For example, the 21” front has its own pattern, while the 17” and 19” front share a similar pattern which features recessed knobs throughout to allow for additional biting edges to enhance offroad performance. Additionally, the 150/70B18 rear tire features an additional rib down the center to maintain highspeed stability on larger displacement off-road focused machines like the KTM ADV 1290-R or Honda Africa Twin.

With fitments for nearly every modern Adventure model on the market, the Trailmax Mission tires are designed to be tubeless, however, if mounting on rims that require a tube (i.e., spokes) the appropriate tube may be fitted. This universal design can often allow for a rider to convert a tubeless tire, to a tube tire while on trail on the event of an emergency. This combined with one of the most robust constructions in the adventure world, means the Trailmax Mission will work overtime to keep you moving. The DUNLOP Trailmax Mission has become an adventure riders favorite with stout reliability and proven performance, no matter the terrain.
