Building up an overlanding rig is no small commitment, especially if you’re looking to install a custom drawer system with kitchen slideouts in your daily driver.
Certainly, such systems are incredibly useful when you’re on the trail. But what about when you’re not?
Czech brand Egoé nest had that concern at top of mind when it created the Nestbox, a removable drawer, kitchen, and sleeper system for select SUVs, vans, and crossovers.
The Nestbox is a self-contained storage system that installs in the back of your vehicle in around five minutes. Nestbox incorporates a two-burner stove, sink, storage drawers, and even space for a fridge.
Installing the Nestbox doesn’t negate your sleeping space inside your vehicle; Nestbox also incorporates a folding bed slat and folding mattress.
Nestbox is not a one-size-fits-all solution; it comes in a variety of sizes. These include Nestbox Camper and Hiker. The Hiker is essentially the same as Camper, just slightly larger.
Stepping up from there is the Supertramp model, which is likely the ideal choice for overlanders. To put it into perspective, the Supertramp weighs about 175 pounds. So, it’s not light by any stretch of the imagination. But it’s not an immovable object either.
Biggest of all is the Roamer. It is designed for compact vans. Pricing of the Nestbox models range from around $3,000 to $4,000.
Right now, most Nextbox models are designed to fit European-market vehicles that haven’t made their way to the US. But Egoé nest does build solutions for a few US-market models, including Land Rover LR4, Subaru Forester, Subaru Tribeca, Volkswagen Passat, and Volvo XC60.
Jeep Wrangler is atop Egoé nest’s plans for a new Nestbox model, which would open itself up a huge swath of the overland market.
If you’d like to see the Egoé nest Nestbox in person, it’ll make its North American debut in Booth L26 at Overland Expo West, July 24-26 in Flagstaff, Arizona. In the meantime, you can check them out online.
