Got A (Euro)Van? Kit It Out Quick With A CampBoks Insert

Not everyone has the skills, time, or even determination to outfit, refit, or upfit a van for an extended camping excursion. And while getting a van ready for a getaway can be as easy as loading in an old couch, cooler, and some crates full of gear, those wanting a bit more of an organized effort (and comfort) should take a look at the ready-to-travel inserts from Austria-based startup CampBoks.

The idea is fairly simple: If you have a compatible van (and for now, it’s going to be EU-spec machines, but the Ford Transit is on the list), just strip out the passenger seats if need be, slide in the CampBoks insert, and secure it.

Now you’ve got a comfy dual-layer mattress on a large 79-inch long sleeping space that folds into a dual-sided bench seat. Plus, there’s a single burner propane stove, small fridge/freezer, flip-up sink, slide-out table with slide-out bench seats, 15-liter electric cooler, dual 12-liter water tanks, and multiple storage bins of different sizes.

There’s also an outdoor shower attachment, a 12-volt power outlet, and more options to better fit your specific #vanlife needs. They also offer a decent list of accessories to customize the CampBoks units.

There are two CampBoks models, the Lite for about $7,200 and the more feature-rich Pro for around $8,600. Adding options affects the price, of course. At 309 pounds at the heaviest, it’ll probably be a wash on weight once the van seats are taken out.

Campboks doesn’t specifically say if they will ship to the U.S. at this time (we emailed to ask), but they are currently shipping products to EU customers.
