Iconic off-road lighting and accessory maker KC HiLiTES has introduced a new line of high-output, full-size, short-depth LED off-roading lights called the SlimLite 8 series.

Instead of a thin rail of LEDs as is now the fashion (and which KC also offers), the SlimLite 8 units essentially duplicate KC’s large, classic 8-inch round incandescent form factor that dates back to the company’s early days in the 1970s and ’80s. A total of 18 LEDs are used in a rough X-shaped multi-reflector pattern within the light’s shell, pumping out nearly 13,000 lumens total, according to KC.

While LEDs run much cooler than incandescent and HID types of lights, such high output still generates heat, and the SlimLite 8 features cooling fins on the back of the housing along with a “direct front cooling design.” KC did not specify current draw in their press release for the SlimLite 8.

A moisture-sealed power connection on the back of the light simplifies wiring, but KC does not specify whether the SlimLite 8 lights are waterproof or submersible.
The SlimLite 8 is designed as a base type of light, and the company offers numerous accessories for it, including a snap-on lens for spotlight mode, yellow and orange lenses, and a rock guard. More accessories will be available in the future.
Pricing for the SlimLite 8 begins at $779.97 for a pair of lights with brackets and wiring per the KC website.
