Leitner Designs has introduced the GearPOD HD, the third generation of its eye-level truck bed storage system, aimed at overlanders and tradespeople who need more durability without sacrificing space.

Built from 11-gauge 5052 H32 aluminum, the new GearPOD HD marks a shift from the brand’s previous rotomolded construction. The result is a stronger, more rigid storage solution that still comes in at the same weight as the existing GearPOD XL, but with a noticeable upgrade in usability. By eliminating internal ribbing, Leitner has opened up 20 percent more interior storage space, giving users more room for tools, recovery gear, or camp essentials.
The GearPOD HD retains the same external dimensions as the GearPOD XL, making it a direct fit for existing Active Cargo System setups. That means current users can upgrade without reworking their entire rack system. A gas strut-assisted door and a single external latch tied to a hidden two-point locking bar keep gear secure while maintaining quick access on the trail or at the jobsite.
Weighing in at 50 pounds and measuring just under 49 inches long, the unit is designed to sit high in the bed, keeping valuable cargo out of the dust, water, and chaos that comes with long miles off pavement.

Manufactured in the United States, the GearPOD HD is priced at $999.99 and is now available through Leitner Designs. For those building out a truck for extended travel or daily utility, it is a clean evolution of a system that continues to prioritize smart storage where it matters most.
