Midland USA has released their new MicroMobile radio, the MXT295 Pro and it has a feature we’ve never seen before – a wireless handset mic. The unit cuts the cord that has traditionally tied the microphone to the base unit by implementing a Bluetooth connection that allows you to take the mic up to 100 feet from the radio mounted in your vehicle. Since it uses Bluetooth, Midland has also made the radio compatible with a host of accessories like Bluetooth headsets and push-to-talk buttons that free the user further.

While the new wireless handset gets all the attention, the base unit has been significantly upgraded over it’s predecessor, the MXT275. The new “hideaway” unit looks to be trimmed down in size, while providing connections for an external speaker, intercom, and PA. The IP67 dust and waterproof rated head unit comes with a slide-in mount that promises to make installation in tight spaces easier. The DC powered radio comes with a 12v vehicle power adapter and puts out 15 watts of power providing an unobstructed range of up to 15 miles. The radio also has built in automatic noise cancelling that works through both the handset and base unit speakers.
The MXT295 Pro is available now for an MSRP of $299.99. It can be found through Midland USA’s network of retailers as well as on their site.
