American Expedition Vehicles, or AEV, makes a wide range of overlanding gear, and for this year’s Ultimate Overland Build, we focused on the company’s wide range of chassis protection parts, including a full suite of skid plates, rear bumper and snorkel.

AEV Skid Plates

AEV Skid Plates offer enhanced protection for all the vital components underneath the Canyon AT4X when traversing technical, rocky terrain off-road. These skid plates are manufactured out of Hot-Stamped Boron Steel, the same cutting-edge process and material first used by AEV when designing the OEM skid plate package for the 2018-22 Chevrolet Colorado ZR2 Bison package.

Hot-Stamped Boron Steel is an ultra-high strength, press hardened steel and is commonly used in automotive applications for passenger impact protection because it is lightweight with an extremely high yield strength and resistance to gouging. As factory-installed equipment on the GMC Canyon AT4X AEV Edition, these skid plates are validated and meet all OEM standards and requirements.

The Ultimate Overland Build received an IFS skid plate, transfer case skid plate, fuel tank skid plate and a rear differential skid plate for maximum underbody protection.

  • IFS Skid Plate MSRP—MSRP $299
  • Transfer Case Skid Plate—MSRP $499
  • Fuel Tank Skid Plat—MSRP $550
  • Rear Differential Skid Plate—MSRP $389

AEV Rear Bumper

The AEV Rear Bumper is not just for good looks, it is designed to withstand all the rigors of off-road use and overland travel. This stamped steel bumper maximizes departure angle and offers integrated corner protection built into the bumper. To assist with vehicle recovery, a pair of heavy duty cast aluminum recovery points are included for easy rigging of ¾” anchor shackles.

Additionally, this bumper has provisions for two 3-inch square LED reverse lights to be mounted cleanly behind the bumper, which come in super-handy when backing-up in the dark. As an OEM-validated part, the AEV Rear Bumper is fully compatible with all the OE driving assist features, like blind spot monitoring and lane assist.

MSRP $2,500

AEV Snorkel

Inspired by heavy-duty industrial and military applications around the world, AEV’s snorkel kit for the 2023+ GMC Canyon 2.7L was designed to improve engine performance by drawing in the cleanest, coolest air charge possible. This snorkel kit is compatible with ALL trim levels and engine performance calibrations.

The AEV Snorkel Kit is manufactured in the USA out of high quality, cross-linked polyethylene. Lightweight and extremely strong, this material offers the best combination of strength, UV-resistance, and long-term durability. This material also has exceptional thermal stability in extreme hot/cold temperatures.

This kit includes the main snorkel body, ram air inlet, all necessary hardware, and a trim template to assist with the installation.

MSRP $649
