Australian manufacturer REDARC has added pure sine wave inverters to its robust off-grid and power management product lineup for the North American market. The inverters join REDARC’s existing dual battery chargers, vehicle management systems, solar panels, and electronic brake controllers, among other offerings.
For those unfamiliar with the technology, the inverters convert 12 volt (or 24 volt) direct current vehicle power to a fully isolated alternating current that can be used to power common household appliances on the road.
The lineup includes 400-watt, 1000-watt, and 1500-watt inverters, as well as two industrial grade units rated to provide 2000-watt or 3000-watt output. The range can provide power for everything from laptops and CPAP machines on the lower end of the output range all the way up to microwaves and espresso machines for the 3000-watt units. For those trying to figure out what output they may need, REDARC provides guidance for selecting the proper output for a user’s planned application on their website.
The line of inverters provides a true sine wave power output in contrast to the more common modified sine wave inverters available on the market. The higher quality output is the same wave form supplied by household AC outlets and is compatible with sensitive electronics that often don’t function well with a modified sine wave form. The pure sine wave output also reduces heat produced and energy used in the conversion process.
