The exploration experts from Backcountry Discovery Routes have been hard at work this year. They’ve added routes in Texas and Georgia, and they just announced a new epic route that will debut on March 1, 2025. The aptly dubbed Southeast BDR, aka the SEBDR, will provide a route from the Gulf of Mexico to the mountain town of Damascus, Virginia, covering over 1,300 miles of mixed terrain.
If you’re unfamiliar with the BDR routes, they’re custom-built by a passionate team. They provide free GPS tracks, section-by-section breakdowns, accompanying Facebook pages, and optional paper maps for each of their 20-plus routes and connectors across the country.
Preview the Southeast BDR
The preview video below gives a great preview of the upcoming full-length film, but we can already tell that riders can expect a wide variety of terrain and geography. From twisty gravel switchbacks over the ancient ridges of the Appalachians to the expansive pine forest and sand roads of the deep South, the terrain is impressive and diverse. This route crosses Florida, Alabama, Georgia, Tennessee, North Carolina, and just a touch of Virginia, so riders can expect plenty of awesome small towns, mom-and-pop stores, and the beautiful backcountry that the National Forest and wilderness areas provide in the region.
A good chunk of this route travels through and near areas heavily affected by Hurricane Helene in late 2024. These communities continue to need our support, and visiting them while traversing the route will help boost their economies, which have previously relied heavily on tourism.

And if riders choose to complete the Southeast BDR from south to north, they can continue onto the Mid-Atlantic BDR straight from Damascus. The Mid-Atlantic route traverses much of the Blue Ridge Mountains of Virginia before hopping into West Virginia, Maryland, and across Pennsylvania to the New York border. If that isn’t enough riding, the North East BDR continues from that point and takes you up to the Canadian border. This trifecta of routes, collectively known as the East Coast Trilogy, will provide an epic journey, and all of the info you need is available through the Ride BDR site.
The Southeast BDR is getting kicked off with a Big Reveal party in Roswell, Georgia, on March 1, 2025. The Aurora Cineplex is hosting the event, and attendees can expect food, exhibits, the premier, and plenty of time to rub elbows with fellow adventure motorcycle enthusiasts. Tickets are available for $30 on the Ride BDR website. If you can’t make the premiere, you should keep your ears to the ground because over 80 motorcycle dealerships are showing the film in the following weeks.
