Sporting a 550 lb. load rating, the Ranger Grand Teton can haul you, a buddy, and gear deep into the backcountry. The Beringer wheels and brakes provide stopping power for short, unimproved backcountry strips like grass and gravel bars. A lack of a proper landing strip is no problem. Inside, deluxe seats fold flat into a bed providing enough room for a 6’ 4” adult to stretch out and sleep. For decades, federal aviation rules and weight limits were the biggest barrier to lightweight aircraft like the Ranger Grand Teton, but just last week these rules were thrown out by the FAA. Now, lightweight craft like this are cleared for more weight and tougher conditions, which means many aircraft manufacturers are heading back to the drawing board, but Vashon Aircraft is ahead of the curve.
The Ranger Grand Teton is available for $241,000, with deliveries planned for this fall.
