Küat Expandable Truck Rack System

Küat, long known for its hitch-mount bike racks and other gear for toting camping toys, has expanded its offerings with a new pickup truck rack system called the Ibex. Not surprisingly, there is an emphasis on the ability to transport bicycles, but the overall design of the rack system is also notably innovative.

For one, the height of the Ibex rack can telescope or compress to accommodate different sizes of gear mounts, panels, or a rooftop tent that doesn’t go above the roofline when folded (photo below).

Molle panels are supported, but there are also solid side panel options coming soon for creating an enclosure as well. Accessories range from bottle openers to jack mounts and side-mounted rails for securing bicycles.

Küat says the rack system will fit most trucks with T-channel kits available for Toyota Tacomas (required) and as an option for Tundras. A Jeep Gladiator kit is also on the way.

Küat says the Ibex is rated for 300 pounds in motion and 1,200 pounds in place. The rack frame is aluminum, and Küat says it currently comes in seven different sizes. Pricing starts at $1,489 for a base rack frame that will support a rooftop tent. A third tail/brake light mounts to the top of the rear section of the frame to maintain DOT compliance.
