Austrian outfitter KRUG Expedition has teamed with overlanding specialists Arctic Trucks to bring the massive Bedrock XT2 to the U.S. market in 2024. Recently it debuted at the Overland Expo West event in Arizona.

Riding on a Ford F550 chassis and six massive wheels, the Bedrock XT2 will be KRUG’s first U.S. market offering. “In recent years, we’ve noticed major demand from the U.S. marketplace in our vehicles, ” Slawa Knorr, CEO of KRUG Expedition, said in a press release. “The Bedrock XT2 gives us a perfect opportunity to enter this market with a vehicle capable of transforming modern expedition travel from a 360-degree view. Our customers are quite literally at the center of any and all outdoor adventures with the way the Bedrock XT2 is strategically configured.”

The massive Bedrock XT2 is 22 feet long, 96 inches across, and 90 inches (7.5 feet) tall. The chassis underwent major modification by Arctic Trucks before KRUG built out the living space. Changes include adding the second rear axle, a new 8-link rear suspension system, limited slip differentials front and rear, 365/80R20 Continental multi-purpose tires, and an optional on-demand tire inflation/deflation system operated from the cab. KRUG says the six wheels decrease ground pressure on the back wheels to aid in traction and stability. In rough terrain, the rear body/camper module can de-couple from the frame to avoid damage as the chassis flexes.

Despite the revised suspension and large wheels and tires, Arctic Trucks says the XT2 rides close to its stock height for better driveability. “Arctic Truck’s mission has always been to build vehicles that allow customers to explore without limits,” Randy Hasson, COO of Arctic Trucks North America, said in a press release. “We see KRUG as a natural partner in building high-quality, well-engineered mobility solutions.”

Power comes from Ford’s 6.7-liter Power Stroke turbo-diesel that makes 330 horsepower and drives the XT2 through a 10-speed automatic with clutchless manual shifting capability.

Inside, the XT2 boasts a purposeful KRUG-designed living space with numerous amenities. A king size bed is standard, while the dinette can convert for more bed space. A full shower and bathroom fed by 118 gallons of water filtered through a one-micron General Ecology Seagull IV-X2 filtration system and microbe-killing PURION 1000 UV light system. A Truma Combi diesel heater warms the air and the water on demand. For units destined to spend more time in cold conditions, heated floors, frost protection, and additional warming solutions are available. For warmer climes, cool relief comes from a Nomadic Cooling X3 Air Conditioner. The grey water tank is just under 50 gallons.

Instead of a generator, a large 23kW Victron internal battery powers two smart TVs (one of which pops up from behind a seating area) and other electronics, including a Starlink receiver, while a large 1,450 Watt solar array harnesses sunlight to charge the battery. Camper audio is courtesy of Bang & Olufsen. Along with the expected suite of nearly full-size appliances on the inside, an outdoor kitchen is also an option. High-intensity aux lights, light bars, and LED modules light the area around the outside of the XT2. A winch is located in the front bumper.

Base pricing for the Bedrock XT2 starts at $690,000, with numerous options that can send that number northward. KRUG says they expect to begin delivering units in 2025.
