Overland Expo is excited to host the Southern Cross Xpedition crew and their vehicles at Overland Expo WEST in Flagstaff. Immediately after the event, this group will set off for what is sure to be an unforgettable adventure that will push both vintage off-road trucks and their drivers to the limit across the breathtaking Backcountry Discovery Routes of New Mexico and Arizona. This journey was originally conceived of by long-time Overland Expo Instructor, Michael Ladden, as a means to return his 1965 Land Rover to the life of adventure it once knew: together, Rover and Driver completed a Trans Africa Expedition in 2001. Mike teamed up with Peter Vollers, who designed the route and logistics for this journey. It is estimated that the Xpedition will take 10 days, during which participants and their eight vintage vehicles will navigate rugged terrains, stunning vistas, and hidden gems.
Attendees at Overland Expo WEST are encouraged to come check out the vehicles and meet their owners at the Southern Cross Xpedition Vintage Showcase (#17 on the event map). There will be a Q&A session with the Southern Cross Xpedition participants on Saturday at 3pm in the Roundtable Pavilion Sponsored by Kumho Tire (open to all).
