Rivian & iKamper Are Back With Another Awesome Collab

Rivian and iKamper are back again with another awesome collaboration. Well-versed Compass readers might remember the  Rivian x iKamper Skycamp Mini Rooftop Tent — designed and sized specifically to fit a Rivian R1T or R1S and based on the SkyCamp 3.0 Mini platform that debuted just under a year and a half ago. Now, these two design-forward companies are back with the new SkyCamp 4.0 DLX for Rivian. This new lineup includes tents designed specifically to fit the Rivian R1S, R1T, and the all-new R2. These new Rivian-specific tents are updated, customized versions of iKamper’s new flagship SkyCamp 4.0 series.

The SkyCamp 4.0 Trio sleeps up to, you guessed it, three people, and is designed to complement the Rivian R1S and their new mid-sized five-seater SUV, the R2. The Duo version is sized to fit perfectly over the bed of the R1T, and it fits two adults and maybe a child or pet if you don’t mind being cozy. Across the SkyCamp 4.0 lineup, you’ll find updated geometry that provides additional interior space, larger doors and windows, and an expanded skylight without increasing the overall footprints of the tents.

iKamper has always gone above and beyond to provide more than just a place to sleep with smart, useful features, and that holds true for the Rivian-specific lineup. You’ll find routing for 12-volt vehicle outlets and compatible power sources that power the integrated LED lighting and offer charging options for USB-A, USB-C, and 12-volt outlets inside the tents. The SkyCamp lineup is also ready for trips in extreme temperatures, with dedicated HVAC routing to pair with compatible air conditioning and heating units. Of course, these tents are still very comfortable places to sleep, thanks to an optional three-inch-thick RTT Comfort LT Mattress and a Cork ThermaSeal™ Floor System. This cork floor, paired with the honeycombed aluminum base, provides insulation and sound deadening without adding weight or sacrificing stability. All three tents use iKamper’s mounting brackets, which rank among the easiest we’ve ever used. These Rivian-specific models of iKamper’s SkyCamp 4.0 rooftop tents include Rivian badging and custom colorways throughout.

“Both iKamper and Rivian share a commitment to thoughtful engineering and making it easier for people to spend more time outside,” said iKamper founder Soon Park. “The new Trio size gives R2 and R1S owners a more naturally matched footprint, while the HC Staircase, lighting, and electrical integration make the entire experience—from setting up to settling in at camp—more intuitive.”

We reviewed the Skycamp DLX Mini from iKamper earlier this year, and we were impressed with the tent’s overall engineering and design. While compact when packed, it offers plenty of space and a surprising number of features when deployed. With the HC Staircase, interior lighting, and overall ease of use being standout aspects of the tent, we can’t help but feel that Soon knocked it out of the park with this latest collaboration with Rivian.

The Rivian x iKamper Skycamp 4.0 will be available for purchase directly at iKamper.com, and it will also be featured in the Rivian Gear Shop.
