There’s never a shortage of new gear, vehicles, and interesting ideas popping up in the overland world. Between new product announcements, things that land in our inbox, and the occasional find while scrolling the internet, there’s always something worth a closer look.
This week’s list is a little bit of everything, from an inflatable camp shelter and a new lineup of vehicle awnings to first-aid gear, a simple solution for securing a propane tank, and a retro-inspired Wrangler.
Cube Air Tent
Inflatable tents aren’t necessarily new, but the Cube Air Tent caught our attention for its combination of interior space and relatively simple setup. Developed in South Africa and now available in the U.S., the Cube replaces traditional tent poles with an inflatable TPU airframe.
According to Cube Air, setup takes around four minutes, and there’s an optional electric pump that should make the process even easier. Once inflated, the full-size Cube provides roughly 107 square feet of interior space with a peak height of 6 feet, 7 inches. At around 66 pounds, this obviously isn’t something you’ll be carrying very far from the vehicle, but for family camping or setting up a basecamp for a few days, the quick setup and generous interior space make it an interesting option.

Roofnest Wing Awnings
There are plenty of 180- and 270-degree awnings on the market these days, so it takes something a little different to get our attention. Roofnest recently expanded its lineup with three new Wing Awnings: the 180° Wing, Little Wing 270°, and Big Wing 270°.
One of the features that stood out to us is the zipperless ABS hard case. Anyone who has spent time trying to stuff an awning back into a soft cover and get everything zipped up can probably see the appeal. The awnings also feature aluminum arms and hinges, waterproof blackout ripstop fabric, and integrated LED lighting. Depending on the model, coverage ranges from approximately 71 to 115 square feet. We’d be interested to see how the hard case and overall setup perform after some extended use on the trail.

MyMedic Everyday Rescue Series
First-aid kits might not be the most exciting gear purchase, but they’re something we think belongs in every overland vehicle. MyMedic recently introduced its Everyday Rescue Series, and two of the new kits seem particularly relevant for anyone who spends a lot of time camping and exploring outdoors: the Wilderness Medic and Pet Medic.
The Wilderness Medic includes supplies aimed at common situations you might encounter around camp or on the trail, including blister treatment, wound care, sting relief, hydration supplies, EMT shears, an elastic bandage, and a space blanket. For those traveling with four-legged companions, the Pet Medic adds pet-specific supplies including a muzzle, syringe, and wraps. MyMedic also packages the two together as the Everyday Rescue Bundle. Both kits are compact enough to keep in the vehicle without taking up much valuable cargo space.

BuiltRight Industries Propane Tank & Bucket Mount
Sometimes the simplest products catch our attention because they solve an actual problem. BuiltRight Industries recently introduced its new MOLLE Panel Propane Tank & Bucket Mount, designed to secure those awkward round items that otherwise have a tendency to slide or roll around in the back of a truck.
The Made-in-USA mount uses a laser-cut and formed stainless-steel bracket with a heavy-duty nylon retention strap and Cobra-compatible buckle. Integrated grip strips help keep everything in place, and while it’s designed to bolt directly to BuiltRight’s Bedside MOLLE Panels, the included hardware allows it to mount to virtually any suitable flat surface. It’s sized for a standard 20-pound propane tank but can also accommodate five-gallon buckets, water jugs, coolers, and other similarly sized gear. At $45, it’s a relatively inexpensive solution to a common cargo-management problem, and a propane cylinder is definitely not something you want bouncing around the truck bed once the trail gets rough.

2027 Jeep Wrangler JL-2A
We’ll finish this week with something a little larger than the rest of the gear on our list. Jeep continues to dig into its history with the 2027 Wrangler JL-2A, the latest release in the brand’s Twelve 4 Twelve series. This edition takes inspiration from the civilian CJ-2A that followed the military Jeep into postwar America.
Based on the Wrangler Rubicon, the JL-2A gets some well-placed retro touches without trying to turn the modern Wrangler into a full vintage recreation. The 17-inch Joose-painted wheels immediately stand out, along with orange tow hooks, 33-inch BFGoodrich KO2 tires, and available exterior colors including Gobi and ’41. Inside, Jeep pairs Heritage Tan and Bison Brown with Desert Orange stitching.
There have been plenty of heritage-inspired special editions over the years, but the Wrangler has the advantage of still looking recognizably related to its ancestors. The JL-2A plays into that history without going overboard, and it definitely caught our attention this week.
