WTF Is ‘Crab Mode’? GMC Demonstrates with Hummer EV.

GMC has dropped one more teaser of the forthcoming Hummer EV ahead of its September 20, 2020 reveal.

This time the teaser is a bit unusual … because it features a crab.

As you can see from the above video, it’s a quick demonstration of the so-called “super truck’s” Crab Mode.

It appears to work as we expected. Since there are no traditional axles or drivelines linking any of the four wheels, the Hummer EV is cable of four-wheel steering and can drive diagonally.

I imagine this could be usefully avoiding trail obstacles that might otherwise be unavoidable with traditionally front-wheel steering only.

We’ll be covering the full reveal of the first-ever Hummer EV later this month. So check back on the 20th for the full details.
