Backcountry Bites: Melty Brie Skillet

We’re kicking off a new video series focusing on everyone’s favorite part of camping: the food! In the first episode of Backcountry Bites, sponsored by Bushwakka Adventure Gear, Chef Jason Schaub of Overland Cookery leads us through a great meal that doesn’t take much time but gives you a warm and delicious appetizer or snack. Think of this Melty Brie Skillet as a major upgrade to the classic charcuterie board but without a ton of effort. Plus, you can utilize whatever local ingredients you find and customize it to your personal taste.

Be sure to check back soon for future episodes, and if you make it out to an Overland Expo event, look for more camp cooking content in the Backcountry Skills & Culinary Pavilion.

Here are a few tips and tricks to remember when you’re crafting your own delicious skillet.

  • Experiment with different fruit and nut combinations for a unique twist.
  • Use a lid or foil to cover the skillet for faster melting.
  • Enjoy with a glass of local wine or your favorite camping beverage.
