Dometic has taken the wraps off its new Slimline 3 Roof Rack, a next-generation platform built specifically for overlanders who demand a durable, adaptable cargo solution. The new rack replaces the Slimline II with a lighter, stronger, and lower-profile design while introducing several thoughtful upgrades that should make life on the trail a little easier. It also serves as the first product in the new Dometic Front Runner Series, a growing lineup of adventure gear designed to work seamlessly together.
One of the biggest changes is the redesigned modular slat system. Individual slats can now be added, removed, or repositioned without dismantling the entire rack, making it much easier to customize the setup for different trips. Whether you’re mounting a rooftop tent, recovery boards, bike mounts, or cargo boxes, the new dual T-slot design offers additional flexibility for accessory placement.
Dometic also reduced the rack’s overall height by 20 percent compared to the previous generation. The lower profile not only gives vehicles a cleaner appearance but also helps reduce wind resistance and wind noise while making it easier to load larger gear onto the flat platform. Built-in tie-down points provide secure attachment locations, while concealed wiring channels simplify the installation of lights and other powered accessories.
Constructed from high-strength, corrosion-resistant stainless steel components, the Slimline 3 is designed to stand up to years of trail use in harsh environments. A new quick-release mounting system also makes installation and removal easier while helping preserve the vehicle’s factory roof and seals.
The Slimline 3 launches with fitments for many of today’s most popular overland platforms, including the Ford Bronco, Toyota 4Runner, Land Cruiser Prado 250, Lexus GX 550, Ineos Grenadier, Ford Ranger, Toyota Hilux, Suzuki Jimny, Isuzu D-Max, Mazda BT-50, and Volkswagen Amarok, with additional applications expected over time.
The Dometic Slimline 3 Roof Rack is available for pre-order now through Dometic, with the first shipments expected to begin in October.
