GIVI, one of the motorcycle industry’s leading producers of motorcycle luggage and accessories, debuted its new set of aluminum Trekker Alaska side cases at the 2019 EICMA show. However, due to pandemic-related production delays faced by the Italian company in 2020, the exciting new cases have only just become available for purchase in the USA. Understandably, they are catching the eye of future overland motorcyclists with their unique durability and patent-pending technology.
The 36L Trekker Alaska side cases feature a replaceable handle, patent-pending retaining hook system and lock components that ensure the cases can be taken on the toughest of trails or on a ride around the world.
GIVI’s retaining hook feature increases the ease of loading the side cases, should the rider have a large top box or duffle bag that would normally impede the side case top from opening straight up. Furthermore, the retaining hook allows the rider to tilt the top of the side case away from the frame in order to open and load the side case without having to remove the top case or duffle bag.
For additional ease of use, GIVI incorporated an ergonomic handle that a gloved hand can easily utilize and integrated strap loops for added carrying capacity.
Although the GIVI Trekker Alaska side cases model a host of new innovative features, they are still compatible with GIVI Monokey frame systems from years past and can be mounted on PL, PLR, PLO, and PLOR frames. The case itself holds 30% fewer rivets than previous models from GIVI, an aspect of the construction which GIVI says lends itself to increased durability while lessening the cost of manufacturing.
A pair of Trekker Alaska cases retail for $760 (aluminum) or $835 (black powder-coated).
