Jeep Reveals 20th Anniversary Wranglers

Jeep’s popular Wrangler Rubicon model is turning 20, and Stellantis is celebrating with some special anniversary trims for the stalwart 392 Wrangler and the popular new hybrid 4xe model.

Jim Morrison, senior vice president and head of Jeep brand North America, said that the Rubicon got its start with enthusiasts at the company that developed an underground upgrade project outside of their typical duties. “Twenty years ago, a small group of enthusiastic Jeep engineers affectionately known as the ‘Lunatic Fringe,’ with grit and determination and their personal credit cards, designed, engineered and developed the most capable Wrangler yet – the Jeep Wrangler Rubicon – and over-delivered on everyone’s expectations because they knew it was what Jeep customers wanted.”

It proved to be a sales and enthusiast hit, and over the years, numerous Rubicon editions have been issued, even with the company changing hands. “That same spirit of determination and ingenuity that led to the creation of the Wrangler Rubicon lives on in these new 20th anniversary special editions, which for the first time, bring available 37s to the Wrangler, providing unmatched capability,” Morrison said in a press release.

The 392 and 4xe Rubicon’s are limited edition releases and are not cheap, ringing in at $69,585 for the 4xe makeover and a steep $90,895 for the limited edition AEV-built 392 versions. Whether what you get for the dosh – besides the exclusivity – is worth the investment will be up to the enthusiast buyers vying to order one of the limited edition units. The special “Level II” package will be installed on just 150 vehicles, while the 20th Anniversary trims will see broad production.
