Leitner Designs Builds a Smarter Roof Rack for the Land Rover Defender 110

Leitner Designs has expanded its ACS ROOF lineup with a new over-cab platform rack engineered specifically for the Land Rover Defender 110. Designed and manufactured in California, the modular system offers a low-profile, no-drill solution for overlanders looking to carry everything from recovery gear and rooftop tents to kayaks and cargo boxes.

Unlike many platform racks that require permanent modifications, the ACS ROOF bolts directly to the Defender’s factory mounting points and adds just four inches of height. The rack also maintains compatibility with the factory side ladder thanks to cutouts in the side rails, while a specially designed rear crossbar clears the Defender’s shark fin antenna.

One of the rack’s standout features is its adjustable load bar system. Instead of fixed crossbars, the ACS ROOF uses sliding load bars that can be repositioned along integrated channels, allowing owners to tailor the layout for changing gear setups. The rack is also compatible with many T-track accessories from Thule, Rhino-Rack and Yakima, making it easy to mount awnings, bike racks, rooftop tents and other adventure equipment.

Leitner also focused on long-term durability and ease of installation. The aluminum rack uses Grade 10.9 hardware with a dual-stage powder coat finish, while removable corner caps make routing wiring for auxiliary lighting much cleaner by allowing cables to run inside the extrusion rails instead of being secured externally with zip ties. The company says the system has also undergone more than 1,000 miles of testing on its Mojave Test Circuit.

The ACS ROOF for the Defender 110 weighs 75 pounds, includes a wind noise reducer, and installs in under an hour with basic hand tools. Pricing starts at $2,200, and the rack is available now through Leitner Designs.
