Washington-based adventure riding accessory maker Mosko Moto has joined the growing ranks of companies offering adventure riding apparel systems. They recently added a new riding jacket and pant set, the Boundary IR.
Long known for its adventure riding luggage systems and lighter-weight clothing, the company has more recently expanded into dedicated adventure riding gear, first with its Basilisk jacket and pant offering. The new Boundary IR set is the latest addition.
The Boundary IR jacket, $1,199, features reinforced ceramic-plated “SuperFabric” panels with both integrated and removable RHEON CE Level 2 armor. It is “AA” CE rated for abrasion and impact resistance. That’s the middle tier in the top range of Euro CE abrasion and impact resistance scale, which ranges from Class C to Class AAA, so there is a lot of protection built into the jacket.
Instead of removable liners, Mosko Moto says the jacket features “30k/10k waterproof/breathable eVent Expedition 3-layer material featuring heavy-duty, 500d Stretch Cordura face fabric,” so it’s also going to keep dry on those stretches of riding in the rain or through water crossings. Reflective trim helps riders show up better in traffic as well. A large vent opening keeps the air moving through the jacket on hot days, and Water-resistant YKK Aquaguard Vislon zippers keep things sealed up and secure. Arm and waist adjustment straps help dial in a custom fit.
Two large front pockets with top openings are easier to get into with gloves on for retrieving phones, wallets, and other bits as needed. Two more chest pockets add more on-person storage for maps, snacks, and more.
The $899 Boundary IR pants feature many of the same features and materials as the Boundary IR jacket, but Mosko Moto says one of their primary goals was to make the pants feel lighter and cooler than the competitors’ pants by using RHEON Armor impact protection “exactly where it’s needed, while maintaining total comfort.” Abrasion-resistant 500d Stretch Cordura 3 Layer material helps protect riders in a slide, and Mosko Moto says the material is “tough, stretchy, waterproof, and incredibly breathable,” which allows “heat and water vapor move directly through the air-permeable membrane, letting your body breathe freely and stay comfortable in a wide range of conditions.”
Armor covers the knees and hip joint areas. Mosko says the pants have received CE Level-2 protection and Class AA CE certification. Both Boundary IR jackets and pants come in two color schemes, a grey/dark grey and a green/dark grey with orange zippers. Sizes range from Small to XX Large. The price is the same across all sizes. Overland Expo hopes to review the Boundary IR kit in the near future.
