Initially launched in 1995, the LX has built its multi-decade reputation on capability and style. The brand new 2025 Lexus LX 700h is the manufacturer’s latest hybrid offering, with 12 different electric options to choose from. For 2025, the LX is offered in five grades, with the most exciting (in our editor’s opinion) being the Overtrail version. For those wondering, the LX is the only vehicle in the Lexus lineup to offer both F SPORT and Overtrail.

Here’s the backstory to this new offering: The Overtrail Project, which was first introduced in 2023 at the Tokyo Outdoor Show, is the brand’s move to inspire customers to explore nature through “refined adventures.” The goal of the project is to broaden Lexus customers’ opportunities, whether that’s through unlocking access to more rugged terrain or having more products, accessories, gear, and experiences to choose from.

The LX is known for its capabilities offroad, and the Overtrail grade builds upon that potential. To start, the Overtrail adds front and rear locking differentials, a 2,400W AC inverter, and off-road all-weather floor liners. The LX 700h is equipped with a 3.4L twin-turbo hybrid V6. The brand-new vehicle is outfitted with 33-inch All-Terrain tires, 18-inch wheels, and a front skid plate, and the exterior appearance package doesn’t pull any punches, either. The exterior of the SUV includes a matte gray grille, black door handles, dark gray roof rails, dark chrome-finished window trim and bumper trim, and black overfenders.

The Overtrail grade is available on the LX 700h and can be equipped as a two or three-row configuration. The LX 700h has an 8,000-pound towing capacity, and the Lexus Safety System+ 3.0 is now standard across the entire LX lineup.

It’s not just the feature set that exudes a tough, rugged persona: the interior tells the story of the LX 700h Overtrail as well. Lexus is offering an exterior color the brand is calling “Earth” and inside, black or brown semi-aniline leather trim on the seats and door panels with complementary brown stitching and black wood accents on the center console and door panels.

Lexus’ flagship SUV will be available in early 2025. The starting MSRP is $106,850 (including DPH). You can read all the details on the LX 700h here.
