The Gear That Caught Our Eye at Mountain West

Overland Expo Mountain West once again delivered. The annual gathering in Loveland, CO brought together plenty of gear, a strong sense of community, and plenty of inspiration for future adventures. This year’s show was filled with clever upgrades and rugged gear. With the event set in Colorado’s backyard, we made sure to spotlight a few local brands that stood out to us.

Goose Gear Venture Series

Goose Gear debuted their newest line of vehicle based storage systems, the Venture Series. The custom built interiors were displayed in a Troopy and Land Rover Defender to show the range of options from this new line, which also serves as a precursor for their upcoming Grenadier roof conversion. The light colored bamboo is a nice touch to brighten up any interior space. We’re looking forward to the official launch of this series.

Timber Van Conversion Kit

For those that are looking for a more hands on approach to building a camper van, Timber Van Kits, provides an affordable DIY option for Sprinter, Transit, and ProMaster owners. These interior kits are designed to quickly transform cargo vans into functional camper vans. Built from sustainably sourced wood and precision-cut components, they offer an easy way for travelers and overlanders to add a bed, storage, and essential living features without a full custom build. Base packages include a kitchen galley, bed platform and mattress, cabinetry, battery storage and inverter, and more.

Roost Concepts Stache Moto Multitool and Mullet License Plate Holder

Colorado based Roost Concepts showcased their Stache Moto Multitool and Mullet Moto License Plate Holder. The Stache features 14 different attachment with 5 sockets and 7 different bits that replaces 90% of what you carry. With three drive interfaces for everything from quick adjustments to axle-nut torque, it’s compact, expandable, and machined in Colorado from aerospace-grade billet. Easily fits in a pack or pocket for moto adventures.

The Mullet Moto Licence Plate Holder is a lightweight, tool-free license plate holder built for dirt bikes. Designed with a thumbscrew lock, flexible TPU frame, and edge protection, it installs in seconds, survives impacts, and can be easily removed with the release knob when you switch from road to trail riding.

LemurStrap Camera Strap

For photographers, LemurStrap is a great option.  The camera strap system keeps your camera secure and provides comfort while on the go. It features a quick release ARCA-style baseplate, tripod adapter, and built-in T-25 wrench. It’s designed for mobility, durability, and ease of use. One highlight is the locking ability of the sliding shoulder strap that locks the camera stably in place preventing the dreadful “camera swing,” that can lead to damage. The strap works with most major camera manufacturers including Canon, Nikon, Sony and more.

Gazelle Tents T4 Overland EXP Hub Tent

One of our favorite tent brands, Gazelle, showcased their newest design, the T4 Overland EXP Hub Tent. Designed with overlanders in mind, the tent features a durable waterproof shell, reinforced frame, tub-style floor, and smart features like heater/ac vents, mesh roof with zippered panels for cooler weather, access for extension cords, and a spacious 94″ x 94″ footprint, it’s designed to keep you dry, comfortable, and ready for any weather. What makes this version different from the standard T4 is the use of lower hubs, which shortens the pack down length (12” shorter than the original) to fit in most back seats and trunks. Like all Gazelle tents, this sets up very quickly and easily so you can spend more time enjoying the outdoors.

Sparks Overland Diesel and Gas Heater

Colorado-based, Sparks Overland, featured their line of heaters and with colder weather just around the corner, this product is one to keep an eye on. Handcrafted in Colorado with premium components and real metal fuel tanks, these are designed for reliability under extreme conditions including high altitude. Featuring a stainless steel 2.2-gallon fuel tank, waterproof electronics, silenced exhaust, and sound-deadening materials, it delivers powerful, quiet heat with Bluetooth control, built-in safety sensors, and a complete installation kit built for overland and expedition use.

Mosko Moto Alpine 60L Rackless Bag

For those that prefer their adventures on 2-wheels, Mosko Moto, showcased their new Alpine 60L Rackless Bag. The rack-free ADV luggage system is lightweight, robust, and simplified for ease of use. Featuring a streamlined design that is waterproof with 420D ripstop N6 with seam tape construction and a DWR treatment for additional water protection. Built on a durable CURV chassis, it mounts universally, swaps easily between bikes, and is packable for fly-to-ride adventures.

Civivi Knife Co Guile Knife

For EDC fans, the Civivi Knife Co, Guile is a compact folding knife that features a 3.25″ Black Stonewashed 14C28N blade and a black G10 handle. At 7.47″ overall open length and 2.7 oz, it includes a liner lock, tip-up pocket clip, caged ceramic pivot, and front-flipper opener—packing premium materials and precision into a lightweight, versatile EDC knife. As a bonus, the knife was designed by actor and EDC enthusiast, Shawn Ashmore, who was in the X-men films and more recently the television drama, The Rookie.

GME GMRS Radios

Making their USA debut, GME, has launched their brand in the States during Overland Expo Mountain West. Available are three, Made in Australia, options of GMRS radios each that feature a professional-grade speaker microphone with a loud 2-watt speaker, customizable buttons, and a high-contrast OLED display. Bluetooth connectivity allows over-the-air updates, easy settings customization, and smartphone control.

Adventure Tool Company

Colorado-based, Adventure Tool Company / Lonely Gargoyle Inc., showcased a 3-day tactical mission bag that was designed for government agencies and special operations units to have a ready-to-go bag. The bag features a laptop/tablet sleeve, technical pockets, small office unit that can hold a phone, business cards, pens, etc., and a closed closet with mesh that can hold up to 3 days worth of clothing and basic toiletries. A pocket for armory, weapons, and first aid supplies also houses a hidden section for cash and credentials. The exterior of the bag features a large kidney pocket and radio pouch.

Roller Cam Molle Panel Kit

Roller Cam featured their MOLLE Kit, a versatile upgrade for securing gear to any MOLLE panel. Built around the 0.75” Rollercam buckle, it delivers strength and low-profile convenience with polypropylene straps, triple-bar tack stitching, and woven-in lengths.
