Overland Expo gives you access to hundreds of hours of classes, courses, and discussions on all things overlanding, led by experienced and passionate travelers from across the community. There truly is a class, or a dozen, for everyone. Here are a few highlights that you’re sure to love, and be sure to check out the full schedule at the bottom of the page. And, if you don’t have tickets for Overland Expo PNW yet, don’t miss out and grab them here!
Storytelling Pavilion
In case you haven’t heard by now, in response to the overwhelmingly popular 2023 Creator Area and the associated Content Creator Panel discussions we held last year, Overland Expo has added a new multi-purpose area called the Storytelling Pavilion. This space includes a teaching area tent that hosts education on topics related to content creation, such as videography clinics with incredibly talented video creators, “how to” classes on everything from starting a podcast to the legal implications of capturing content on public lands, and stories from folks who are traveling around the country and around the world. In addition, a select group of content creators will be camped with their rigs around this space, so if you’re looking to chat with or get an in-person tour of the rig of an overlander you’ve been following for a while, this will be your chance. To read more about the classes and folks you’ll find in this area, READ MORE HERE.
Women Who Wander Pavilion
Overland Expo – particularly its female director of programming – is thrilled to launch “Women Who Wander” at Overland Expo PNW. Honoring and catering to one of the fastest growing communities in the overland space, “Women Who Wander” will feature female-specific education during the days throughout the weekend and a fun, engaging fireside chat on Friday night from 7 pm until 9 pm. These are the faces you can expect to see in this exciting new area:
Misti Tokarsky with Lady Overland Radio will teach:
- Overlanding for Beginners: A Lady Overlander’s Perspective
- Hygiene for Lady Overlanders
- Safety Hacks for Female Travelers.
Natalie Muscat with Ladies Night Campouts will teach:

The above is only a sampling of what will be taught during the day. Check the full schedule for more details, and make sure to attend the various daytime and nighttime networking sessions for women.
Fresh Cooks in the Overland Expo “Kitchen”
Make sure to check out our new feature chefs in the Backcountry & Culinary Pavilion:
Jason Price
Jason Price, “The Overland Omnivore,” will present his Overland Gourmet Series, which is perhaps the most holistic culinary programming Overland Expo has ever offered. Jason has a background in commercial kitchens, outdoor education, secondary education, moto, snow sports, and even archaeology. He has covered most of the US in his travels and cooked the entire way. His mother was a trained Escoffier Executive Chef. He learned his way around the kitchen and worked in the fast-paced world of food service from her. Jason’s series, Overland Gourmet: 101 – 401, will bring attendees through the foundational aspects of overlanding cooking, beginning with an overview of tools and setups, all the way through food safety and provisioning, and finally, concluding with a phenomenal one-of-a-kind cooking demo. Each session builds on the last, so make sure to attend all four classes in this series.
Connie Rodman
Connie is a familiar face at Overland Expo, having attended every single Overland Expo EVER. Little known fact: until two years ago, Connie was responsible for feeding the entire Overland Expo staff three meals per day. We’ve been waiting to tap into Connie’s wealth of culinary experience, which includes cooking for multiple overland expeditions, and are thrilled to have her join us to teach “Making Your Own Dehydrated Meals” on Friday and “Food Storage, Preparation, and Provisioning” on Saturday.
Kristina Schmid
Kristina Schmid lives and breathes the outdoors. She has curated a shelf-stable menu so that she is always “ready to go while trying not to complicate things!” Kristina will teach “No Cooler Backcountry Gourmet” on Saturday afternoon, where attendees will learn how to make mushroom risotto, forbidden rice salmon ramen, curry dinner, apple cobbler, and more!
In addition to all of these new teaching areas and instructors, storied overland travelers, and accomplished chefs, you can count on Overland Expo’s programming to provide the quality, core, essential education that we know is necessary for every traveler, such as:
- Water Logistics for Overlanding
- Back it On Up: Overlanding with a Trailer
