Take Over the World on the Yamaha Tenere 700 World Raid

If you’ve never had a motorcycle with a 300+ mile range, you don’t know what you’re missing. It’s a trip planning game changer and an awesome ADV asset. In the spirit of long-distance adventure, Yamaha launched a new version of the Tenere 700, dubbed the World Raid, that features a 6.1 gallon fuel capacity and a host of other off-road worthy updates.

All of that gasoline gets stored in the Raid’s dual fuel tanks. Mounted low for better balance, the tanks deliver a hearty 310 mile range and will let you ride easy knowing that you’ve got an extra two gallons over the standard Tenere tank. The twin tank design means less fuel sloshing around and harkens back to classic Paris-Dakar setups or, perhaps, that crusty old KTM 990 in your garage that you can’t quite bear to part with.

The 485-pound World Raid’s long-haul off-road upgrades also include an Öhlins steering damper and fully adjustable long-travel front and rear suspension, designed to handle tough off-road terrain. The 43 mm KYB forks give 9.1 inches of wheel travel and when paired with the spring preload adjuster, rebound and compression damping adjusters, and air bleeding screw you can tune your suspension perfectly to the terrain and how much luggage you’re bringing along on your journey.

On the bells and whistles side of things, the Raid now has a new five inch TFT color display to keep you informed while you’re on the road. When paired with the MyRide app, you can receive text and phone alerts if you’re the connected sort of adventurer. Pair that with a taller windscreen, larger footpegs, more robust engine and radiator guards, and a flatter, rally-style seat and you’ve got yourself one heck of an adventure bike.

Deliveries to the European market will begin in May 2022, but all of us over here in North America will have to wait a bit longer. The price in the UK for the new World Raid is set at £11,600, which is just over $13,000. It will be interesting to see if and when the Raid makes its way to this side of the pond. If anyone from Yamaha happens to read this, sooner rather than later would be great, please!
