Miles from civilization, water is often a precious resource while overlanding, and the more you can bring with you, the better. But the precious liquid often takes up a lot of space and adds a lot of weight to an overlanding setup, plus there’s the issue of how to transport it. Fortunately, there are many options available, but a new and unusual form factor comes from Roam, the Texas-based overlanding accessory maker.
Succinctly called the 7-Gallon Water Tank, the 7-gallon water tank holds seven gallons (or 28 liters) of water in a beam-like container that readily mounts to most overlanding-style pickup truck racks. Mounting hardware is included.

Attached to the 56-inch long container is a 6-foot long hose tipped by a multi-sprayer nozzle similar to what many people use in their garden. A rotating head on the sprayer lets users dispense liquid in a shower-type spray or a stream to blast away dirt and debris, plus some other options. The system is designed to work under pressure, and the container can be pumped up to 30 psi using a typical floor-standing bicycle pump. A large opening makes getting water into the tank a snap.
The tank mounts to most common rack rails and has mounting rails on all four sides. You can also mount lightweight accessories to the tank itself, such as Roam’s $319 fold-out outdoor shower stall. The black-painted stainless steel body will heat the water if parked in the sun for a warm rinse.
