GMC revealed the second variant of the reborn HUMMER EV over the weekend, the SUV. It borrows much of the technology of its larger, Truck brother but packs it in a smaller, more capable rig.
If you want to know the full story on the HUMMER EV, check out or coverage of the HUMMER EV Truck. For this story, though, we’ll just cover the tweaks made for the SUV.
Without a truck bed in the back, the SUV is smaller than the Truck — both in overall length as well as wheelbase. The SUV has nine fewer inches in between the front and rear wheels. The overall length is 20 inches less than the Truck. And the ground clearance is a massive 16 inches — 0.1 inches taller than the Truck — and 32 inches of wading depth.
Although the SUV is a lot shorter than the Truck, its only real benefit is its increased departure angle: 49.0 degrees compared to the Truck’s 38.4-degree departure. Both approach and break-over angles remain virtually the same.

A feature not revealed until this new SUV variant debut is the available Power Station generator. It allows the HUMMER EV to both power your campsite (up to three kiloWatts of output) as well as the ability to jumpstart another EV, which is pretty neat.
There’s also a new satellite-rendered trail mapping power that allows drivers to discover and navigate off-road trails, while monitoring their vehicle’s energy consumption in real time, with community-based energy forecast through their myGMC app.
Like the Truck, the SUV has 18-inch wheels, 35-inch tires, 830 horsepower and up to 11,500 lb-ft of torque. And can go 0 to 60 miles per hour in 3.5 seconds.
Pricing is comparable to the Truck and the SUV will go on sale in 2023 as a 2024 model year vehicle.
