Alu-Cab Announces Spacious ‘ModCAP Family’ Camper

South African overlanding gear and rooftop tent maker Alu-Cab has unveiled its latest model, called the ModCAP Family Camper.

Alu-Cab says the ModCAP Family Camper has more room than ever thanks to its sideways orientation and expanding sleeping platform that allows for an 80 x 90-inch sleeping area. The company says the The Family Camper can be installed on any DC, XC, FSS, FSL ModCAP base “and with its side opening design creates a massive sleeping platform that can support up to four adults!“

Alu-Cab says the Family Camper will fit both mid-size and full-size trucks and that “due to the modularity of the ModCAP, the tent or flat roof are interchangeable.” That said, the ModCAP Family is still in the prototype stage, with delivery expected this fall, according to the company.

So far, Alu-Cab has not released specifics in terms of overall weight and overall dimensions, but numerous photos on the company website show the ModCAP Family installed on a hard-sided pickup bed insert similar to the recently announced Alu-Cabin. Pricing for the ModCAP Family has also not been released.

Alu-Cab says the ModCAP Family will “set the trend for off-road luxury.” While four adults in an RTT sounds… cozy, no matter how much room there is, more room is always welcome.
