Popular pickup truck camper shell maker and van outfitter Tufport is getting into the overlanding market with a new product, conveniently called the Overlander. The company is well known for its one-piece white monocoque bed inserts that are just shells, leaving interior design and such for customers to configure as they see fit. The company famously floated a model down a river – roof side down and with an outboard motor attached – to demonstrate its watertight construction (and apparent seaworthiness).
With the Overlander, Tufport will offer a fully featured interior with storage, sleeping, and galley options. It will be their first furnished camper model.

“Our new lightweight, minimalist-designed camper won’t overload your truck,” Tufport says on its newly live Overlander description page. The Overlander will slot into truck beds six or six and a half feet long. Tufport says the interior height is 65 inches and 72 inches wide. Interior features include a couch that folds out to a bed, a galley with countertops, a sink and storage area below, plus a vertical pantry/cabinet and an over-the-cab sleeping area with a privacy divider. Heaters, fridges, cooktops, roof racks, and more will be options.

Interior lighting is also standard, as are tinted windows with screens and a roof vent. Solar panels are also available. Colors shown in renders on the website include grey and a two-tone black and white finish. A large rear door eases access, and a third brake light is molded into the shell.
No pricing has been posted as of yet. Overland Expo has a request in for costs and future availability. Tufport is teaming up Wasatch Overland for distribution, and those interested can put down a $1,000 pre-sale deposit for the Overlander at this time. Tufport will show the new Overlander at Overland Expo Mountain West in Loveland, Colorado, on August 23-25.
