If you’re one of those purists that love to camp in an actual ground tent, then the EXØD Monolith is right up your alley.
Does The EXØD Monolith Tent Float?
But wait a second, is this thing floating? I’ll freely admit that when I first peeped the photo above, I thought this was one of those “new-fangled” tents that hover off the ground with the aid of some sort of proprietary alien propulsion thrusters to keep you off the earth and safe from harmful creepy crawlies below.
Fine, I grew up with Star Wars, and my mind automatically goes to these places. Bear with me.
French design company EXØD bills their new Monolith Expedition Tent as a “next-level shelter that rises above breathtaking landscapes.” So yeah, it totally hovers, right?
EXØD Monolith Tent Details
In reality, the EXØD Monolith is a six-pound, single-person expedition tent with an inflatable frame designed to deploy in as little as 15-seconds. The bed sits off the floor of the tent with two telescopic carbon fiber rods that create a flat bed in any conditions. The exterior of the tent is EXØD’s two-layer, Nylon 30D, 10.000mm DWR, PU coated 5000g/m2/24h fabric. And just to answer your question, if you still have it, no, it does not float, but it does include over 52 feet of nylon webbing designed to suspend your Monolith tent between trees for a “hover-esque” experience.
EXØD Monolith Tent Pricing
The EXØD Monolith is available on a limited pre-production run of 100 tents for $960 US (850.00€). As of this writing, the 100 appear to be snapped up already, but if the pre-production run goes well, we can assume these will be available in full production at a later date.
