Do you have some big cargo bits you don’t want to tuck into your already crowded Sprinter van? Flarespace, best known for its accessory extension panels that give a bit more room on the inside of a van, has developed a panel rack system for the van’s exterior that allows for easier mounting of bike racks, tools, spare tires, storage boxes, and much more.
Called the nVader rack, the perforated metal panels mount to the back of 2019 and later Mercedes-Benz Sprinters, as well as Storyteller Overland’s Stealth, Mystic, and Beast Mode adventure vans. Available for $999 each, buyers can choose from driver or passenger side racks or both (seen below). Choose the set, and Flarespace will include a $299 tire bucket in the deal. The price does not include shipping, but if buyers are near a Flarespace dealer, the company is offering free installation for a limited time.
The nVader racks are designed to hold a lot of gear but are shaped to allow at least a partial view out of the van’s rear windows. Once loaded up, drivers may still want to utilize the Sprinter’s overhead view camera for a better look behind the van. Flarespace shows the nVader racks with mountain bikes, skis, shovels, fuel packs, and a spare tire all mounted up. The company carries a wide range of mounting gear for the racks.
Flarespace says that Sprinters with 270-degree rear door hinges will need to convert the hinges to 180-degree types to avoid damaging the racks and the van. Flarespace carries the hinges, and replacement is fairly straightforward. Flarespace also carries storage boxes, tool mounts, and more for the nVader racks.
