South Korean-based rack maker iKamper is beginning to roll out its new line of Raconteur pickup racks, but only on a limited basis at this time.
The racks have been in development for the last several years, according to iKamper, which has its U.S. headquarters in Kent, Washington. They say the name is an homage “to the storyteller in all of us” and that the new racks are overbuilt with steel frames, stainless steel hardware, chip-resistant coatings, and aluminum crossbars. The racks are designed to support iKamper’s line of rooftop tents and other gear.
At present, the Raconteur system is only available for Toyota Tacoma and 4Runner trucks from 2005 to the present model years, although more models for more trucks are planned for release in 2024. The company says the 4Runner version will come in one full-length design, while the Tacoma will have both bed and roof rack options. Bed racks can be optioned in mid and full-height configurations and paired with a roof rack.
On their website, iKamper says they are already contacting its “most experienced customers” to offer them the initial builds in order to get feedback on real-world use cases. For early buyers, shipping to the 48 contiguous U.S. states will be free. Pricing hasn’t been revealed at this time.
The company says supplies are extremely limited at this time, and an “official” reveal of the Raconteur system will take place next year. If you have an interest but have not been contacted by the company already, you can contact iKamper at [email protected]. iKamper says those interested can use the code RACKSONRACKS on the site to signal their interest.
