Venturous Truck Tops brought decades of experience to that question. Its roots reach back to Jason Truck Caps, Ranch Fiberglass, and ATC Truck Covers, brands with more than 50 years of truck-cap history. When Venturous joined the family in 2023, its purpose was clear: rethink what a truck top could do.

SOLO from Venturous Truck Tops
SOLO did not begin with a polished rendering or a complicated engineering brief. It began with a simple question: Why should a truck owner have to choose between having a cap and having an open truck bed?
SOLO began with the company’s director of new product development, who wanted the security and weather protection of a cap when needed, without keeping one permanently on his truck. The team also saw a gap in the market. Many caps were called modular because they arrived in pieces and were assembled on the truck. Once installed, however, they generally stayed that way. Venturous wanted to create something modular in the truest sense, something one person could remove or reinstall as plans changed.
SOLO’s first prototype was plywood—not glamorous, but proof the idea worked. Sales saw the opportunity, marketing studied how people use their trucks, and engineering refined the design. The frame became a rack for MOLLE panels, traction boards, containers and gear. The lightweight, yet durable PolyFuse panels use a simple tool-free latching system. Its one-person simplicity inspired the name SOLO.

For overlanders, the possibilities are easy to picture. A contractor can finish the workweek with tools protected by the cap, unload on Friday, remove the panels and expose the rack for a weekend of camping and off-roading. The panels can slide into the truck bed and come along, ready to go back on if the weather turns.
SOLO is the product Venturous is proudest of because it represents the company’s future. In an industry where fiberglass tops have been made largely the same way for more than 60 years, SOLO shows what can happen when innovation, customer focus, responsibility and practical experience come together.

Venturous also has a side the overlanding community may not expect. As part of the DeBruce Companies, a portion of every truck top sold supports the DeBruce Foundation’s work expanding career opportunities and helping people build more meaningful futures. At a time when much of the industry is becoming larger and more consolidated, that gives Venturous a distinctly human purpose.
Every SOLO is built to help someone reach the next campsite, trail, or fishing spot. But every one sold also helps someone else move toward a more promising future. In that sense, every cap carries two journeys: the one on the truck and the one it helps make possible.
