Check out this amazing trailer in person at Overland Expo West in Flagstaff, Arizona, on May 17-19.
Most overlanding trailer makers focus on cramming in as much capability, utility, and sleeping space as possible into as small a trailer as possible for maximum ease while towing it, which typically includes some off-road miles. Mammoth Overland, as the name implies, takes a more maximal approach, and their newest offering, the TL “Tall Boy” trailer, isn’t shy about being a small luxury overlanding condo on wheels.
The initial specifications and accommodations for the new Tall Boy may not push into glamping territory, but it’s not far from the line either. Of course, this is somewhat expected from the Washington-based company that brought us the Extinction Level Event (“ELE”) trailer in 2023. The Tall Boy TL is the company’s first full-height trailer.
The softer side of overlanding with a trailer
“We gave Tall Boy 22 inches of ground clearance, so that families could confidently and comfortably access parts of our country typically off limits to off-road trailers, ” Mammoth Overland President Scott Taylor said in a press release. “Tall Boy combines the durability of our HV and ELE trailers with the amenities and spaciousness of home.”
Mammoth says they are only going to make ten of the Tall Boy TLs, and the base price “Genesis Edition” is $72,000 before adding on any extras – if any are needed outside the long, long list of standard features and equipment. Buyers get a tall helping of turn-key overlanding goodness, including 22″ of ground clearance between the quad, 33″ BFG tires, twin 100-watt solar panels, 50 gallons of water storage, rock sliders, traction boards, 23Zero 270-degree awning, a triplet of Rotopax modules, roof rack, full LED lighting including rock lights, HiLift jack and a Dual Timbren 5200HD independent suspension system. Two spare tires can be mounted to the exterior.
Inside, there’s a king-size mattress, interior shower and sink, cassette toilet, modular couch/bunk bed, two-burner stove, Dickenson Heater, 42-quart fridge, lots of tinted windows, 24-inch TV, instant hot water, AC and USB outlets connected to a 2,000 Watt inverter and 400AH REGO battery, and a lot of storage space. Many more goodies and features are included, so check out the trailer’s page here and see it in person at Overland Expo West in Flagstaff, Arizona, on May 17-19.
The chassis construction is all aluminum, and the towing weight is just under 3,000 pounds empty. Mammoth says deliveries should begin later this fall, and interested parties can hold a place in line with a $1,000 refundable deposit.
