With the growing popularity of the RAM ProMaster as a commercial vehicle and rising interest as a platform for overlanding, Mopar has released a number of new factory-backed accessories for the 2023 model.
Of the 12 new accessories released, the majority are minor, utilitarian offerings such as paint-protection film, D-pillar grab handles, all-weather floor mats, upper interior trim panels, a wheel-lock kit, and a locking gas cap. I’m sure someone was counting down the days until they could get their hands on a locking gas cap, but hardly something to get excited about, at least for most of us.
Where things get a little more interesting is the balance of the offerings. Of these, Mopar will now be selling a Class IV, 5,100-pound capacity 2-inch receiver, that maxes out at a 510-pound tongue weight. While one might argue that this should be standard equipment on such a vehicle, the modular, flexible nature of the ProMaster does lend itself to the à la carte nature of RAM’s approach.
Joining the receiver hitch on the ProMaster menu is the cargo-load floor option. The modular flooring comes with an anti-slip surface festooned with integrated rails for carriage bolts and D-ring hardware. While likely aimed at your neighborhood Amazon Primed van, the flooring will be of particular interest of the van conversion folks, creating a simple build and tie-down platform.
Joining the cargo-load floor option in the ‘more exciting than a locking gas cap’ category is the crew-van package. The staggeringly priced $6,495 option provides a rear bench seat that adds three more seats to the ProMaster, while leaving the rear cargo area open. The package includes a built-in cargo partition with an under-seat pass-through for longer items. Contributing to the package price is the addition of polycarbonate windows to the driver side panel and sliding door.
Rounding out the new accessory options are a new passenger side step and LED cargo lighting. While none of the options are world changing, it’s nice to see RAM adding more options to the already flexible ProMaster platform. We expect to see more such additions in the future.
