Join us as we kick off the 12th Season of the Overland Expo Film Festival sponsored by Remote Vans at Overland Expo West in Flagstaff, Arizona, May 15-17. The first stop of the film festival this year will be a special one. The evening will start out with the much anticipated first episode of season 2 of Desk to Glory’s adventure film series, Expedition Portal Presents Why We Overland: For a History Lesson | Bosnia-Herzegovina.

Following the Desk to Glory film, we’ll have the very first screening of XOVERLAND’s Milestones: Global Expedition Season Finale, Episode 10: To the Final Mile. We’ll be joined by members of the cast for a post-screening panel where the team will discuss the making of the season and take questions from the audience. XOVERLAND will be giving out signed posters and will have some of the forthcoming Milestones Coffee Table Book for sale.

For those wanting to get caught up on the season before the evening’s screening, XOVERLAND will be showing Episode 9 at their booth (Q19/20) on Friday before the film festival. Times for the in-booth Episode 9 screening will be released soon.

EXPEDITION PORTAL PRESENTS DESK TO GLORY SEASON 2, EPISODE 1 – WHY WE OVERLAND: FOR A HISTORY LESSON | BOSNIA-HERZEGOVINA

History runs deep in the Balkans–specifically Bosnia-Herzegovina. Richard and Ashley Giordano explore Josip Tito’s nuclear shelters in Željava and Konjic (ARK D-0), the Sniper Tower in Mostar, and the abandoned Olympic venues in Sarajevo. What better way to learn about history than to step right into it?

This film is one of seven episodes from Season 2 of “Why We Overland” rolling out on Expedition Portal’s YouTube channel. In this series Richard and Ashley travel in their 2008 Toyota Tundra from Morocco, through the Alps and the Balkans, to Eastern Turkey. As always, driven by curiosity.

Film Makers Ashley and Richard Giordano |From Desk to Glory
Film Maker Bios

In 2016 Richard Giordano completed a 48,800-kilometer overland journey from Vancouver, Canada, to Ushuaia, Argentina, with his wife, Ashley, in their well-loved but antiquated 1990 Toyota Pickup. That trip launched Richard into a career as a photographer and freelance video producer. He has crafted commercials for Toyota Canada, is lead photographer and camera operator on Expedition Overland Apex series, and currently on the road in Central Asia. If you see Richard out in the wild, he’ll most likely have a smile on his face, a strong coffee in one hand, a camera in the other, and Ashley by his side producing the project or planning their adventure.

EPISODE 10: TO THE FINAL MILE

With just Namibia and South Africa remaining, the XOVERLAND team pushes through Angola on the final stretch of their 25,000-mile overland expedition. The finish line is finally within reach, but the road has other plans.

Southern Africa delivers some of the most unforgettable overlanding terrain of the entire journey. Remote landscapes, challenging roads, and powerful moments with the people they meet along the way remind the team why they set out in the first place.

After months on the road, the reality of what they’ve accomplished has fully set in. Every mile behind them tells a story. Every mile ahead brings them closer to a milestone most people only dream of reaching.

Follow along as the XOVERLAND team closes in on their longest, most ambitious expedition to date.
